6th Grade

Happy October!!  We have a lot of exciting changes in the 6th grade at FCMS this year!  This is the first year 6th grade will have a STUDENT COUNCIL!  Elections will be held and representatives announced the first week in October.  Student Council Class Representatives (2 representatives per first period class) will work with administration to bring ideas for local and community improvement to life!

Also, 6th grade will be celebrating monthly character traits and scholars will be nominated for showing these character traits by their first period teachers. September we learned about Compassion and this month we are learning about SELF CONTROL.  Self control is choosing to do what’s best even when you don’t want to!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

7th Grade

We are well into this fall semester, as school is in full swing and October has begun.  I have enjoyed getting to know this seventh grade class.  October is recognized as bully prevention month in Frederick County Public Schools.  Here at FCMS, we will continue to engage our scholars on positive interactions with peers.  Thank you for continuing to monitor your child’s social media usage and promoting good choices.  In addition, Dr. Rowan and I will be meeting with both teams of scholars in seventh grade to discuss the opportunity to serve on the seventh grade student council.  We anticipate eight to ten scholars will serve on the seventh grade student council.  Scholars wanting to serve will be responsible for their campaign and connecting with their peers for support.  Also, please continue to monitor your child’s progress in their classes through Infinite Campus.  If you would like to meet with, or conference with your child’s teachers, please let me know, as I can assist in coordinating those meetings.  The end of the first nine weeks is October 18, for FCPS.   And as always, if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards,

8th Grade

Hello 8th grade scholars and parents! I can’t believe we are already in October of this school year. As we near the end of the first quarter, I will begin our first 8th grade lunch group with the topic of time management and organization. This group will meet once a week during lunch time for 8 weeks of school. Our focus will be how to prioritize student assignments, ways to organize due dates, and how to manage their time in the best ways. If you are interested in your scholar joining this group, please email me. I will be sending information to students interested very soon. The end of our first nine weeks will be October 18. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you would like to schedule a meeting with your scholars teachers, or have any questions. I am excited to continue working with your 8th grade student and looking forward to a great school year.
